BKK 01 City Temples Tour + Grand Palace

BKK01                 Half Day City Temples Tour with Grand Palace

Visit Wat Traimit, with its invaluable Golden Buddha (5 ½ tons of solid gold). This icon is the largest of its kind in the entire world and its gold was only discovered in 1955, after several centuries of remaining hidden behind a stucco layer.

Drive through Chinatown on the way to Wat Pho, also known as 'The Temple of the Reclining Buddha' thanks to the 15-metre-high, 43-metre-long Buddha image it shelters, covered with gold leaf. Wat Pho also houses 1,000 Buddha images and 91 chedis (stupas), including 4 very impressive chedis dedicated to the 4 Chakri kings. This temple is also home to the first Thai massage school.

Last visit will be The Grand Palace, one of the most beautiful samples of an ancient Siamese court.  It used to be the residence of the Kings of Thailand.  Here you will see palaces which were used for different occasions: the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House, and the beautiful Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew), the most important and most visited temple in Bangkok. One of the most significant features of Wat Phra Kaew is the Emerald Buddha, carved from a 66 cm tall block of jade. This highly revered icon was first discovered in 1464 in Chiang Rai.
