BKK 04 City Temples Tour + Marble Temple

BKK04            Half Day City Temples + Marble Temple (Only in Private)

Visit Wat Traimit, with its invaluable Golden Buddha (5 ½ tons of solid gold). This icon is the largest of its kind in the entire world and its gold was only discovered in 1955, after several centuries of remaining hidden behind a stucco layer.

Drive through Chinatown on the way to Wat Pho, also known as 'The Temple of the Reclining Buddha' thanks to the 15-metre-high, 43-metre-long Buddha image it shelters, covered with gold leaf. Wat Pho also houses 1,000 Buddha images and 91 chedis (stupas), including 4 very impressive chedis dedicated to the 4 Chakri kings. This temple is also home to the first Thai massage school.

Last visit will be Wat Benchamabophit, known as 'The Marble Temple' due to its pillars, courtyard, and lion statue guardians are entirely made of Italian Carrara marble. It is one of the most beautiful and important temples in Thailand and it contains the ashes of King Rama V (kept at the base of the central Buddha image).
