Visit Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand for 417 years and one of Thailand's major tourist attractions. The Ayutthaya Historical Park was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.

 

First stop will be The Former Royal Summer Residence. Explore the palace and see exquisite examples of Thai architecture.

 

Visit Wat Phra Si Sanphet, this important and outstanding monastery was used as a residential palace in the reign of King Ramathibodi I.

 

Afterwards visit Wat Mongkhon Bophit, or the Buddha of the Holy and Supremely Auspicious Reverence, which was sculpted in 1538 in the reign of King Chairacha.

 

Last visit before heading to the pier will be Wat Mahathat, with its iconic Buddha head entwined in the roots of a tree, is one of Thailand’s most photographed sites. Built during the 14th century, the temple was an important venue for Royal ceremonies and later destroyed during the Burmese invasion in 1767, who also vandalized many Buddha images by cutting off their heads.

 

At 12:45 hrs. board the Grand Pearl and enjoy a western & oriental buffet lunch on board, while cruising down the Chao Phraya River towards Bangkok. Coffee and tea are available free of charge later in the afternoon.
