USM01              Half Day Around the Island (City tour by Van)

TIMING:                   09.00 – 14.00

Visit Chaweng Viewpoint, this coastal stop offers panoramic seaside views and a really pleasant sight. A place to admire the greyish beige of the rocks, turquoise water, and the clear blue skies above Chaweng.

Next stop will be made at Grandfather and grandmother rocks, a popular rock formation so called due to the shape of the formation (resembles the female and male genitalia).

Continue to visit Wat Kunaram (also known as mummy monk). This temple hosts a mummified monk, an unusual sight yet it offers a unique insight into Buddhist and Thai culture. The monk Luong Pordaeng died in 1973 in a seated meditative position, and ever since his body has been on display in an upright glass case at the temple.

Visit Namuang Waterfalls, the most popular waterfall in the island. Relax or swim in the fresh and clear water before going to Nathon Town, the leading urban and economy center of Ko Samui due to its fishing and coconut industry and the best place to buy souvenirs (considerably cheaper than elsewhere on the island).

Last visit is The Big Buddha, temple located on a small rocky island off Koh Samui’s northeastern corner. It’s a golden, 12-metre-tall seated Buddha statue built in 1972. The Big Buddha temple is reached by a causeway that connects it to the main island.
